I was just pondering part of the opening citation from Jude "... of some have compassion, making a difference: And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire, hating even the garment spotted by the flesh."

I wasn't sure I understood what was meant. Until I went on to the next citation and read the story of the woman taken in adultery. And this is EXACTLY what Jesus did! He had compassion on the woman and made a difference to her, saving her life and making her free of sin. Then he saved the others from the fire, or throwing stones and becoming guilty of killing her. He loved them all with the same love, and hated even the garment spotted by the flesh. In other words, he allowed no judgment, selfishness, guilt, hatred, or any thought or action that was of the flesh, to control or define anyone there that day.

What a healing!

Can we love that way, too? Act from compassion, judge no one, and keep all others from self-destruction? Hate even the garment spotted by flesh, even the idea that anyone who God has created - and He created all - to be truly sinful? Our God is good! And that is the truth about everyone.
